Turku is the oldest city of Finland and was its first capital. History of Turku goes back to 13th century when Dominican Monastery was founded here in 1249. Cathedral and Castle were also raised here. Today it is the fifth largest city of the country with significant number of students. It is also cultural centre – many regular events and festivals are organized here every year. During our tour we will walk around Old Town and focus on the Cathedral of Turku and the Castle – largest in Finland. You will also have some free time for lunch.
In the afternoon we can visit fancy resort and one of the most beautiful towns in Finland – Naantali. It is situated 17 km from Turku and its biggest attraction is Muumimaailma (Moomin World). Moomins are characters from fairytale created by Finnish writer – Tove Jansson. If you are interested in visiting this amusement park we can also include it in program of the tour. If not, we can focus on the beauty of the town itself. Its older part resembles open air museum with narrow, cobbled streets and low, wooden buildings.
