Klaipeda is a very old city which changed its owners many times throughout the history. The strongest cultural influence came from Germany which is still visible in the city center.
During our city tour you will see the ruins of Klaipeda Castle which was built by Teutonic Knights in 1252. Although it suffered major destruction throughout centuries of wars, some fortification walls and cellars maintained and other parts were reconstructed. You will also visit a small modern museum which was opened here recently and enjoy a panoramic view of the city from one of the Castle’s towers. Afterwards we will take you to the Old Town to show you central point of Klaipeda – Drama Theatre Square with a symbol of the city – famous monument to Taravos Anike (Annchen von Tharau), a character from popular German folk song. Then we will continue our walk along the narrow streets of Old Town and admire their traditional 18th century style, pass by many old houses and historical buildings.
