City of St Petersburg is one of a kind in the whole world. It is the northernmost city in the world to have such a huge population of nearly 5 million inhabitants and it is second largest city in Russia after Moscow. This city offers so many attractions that you could spend easily one week to see all its highlights so it is not easy task for us to choose which places would need to be skipped if you only have one day for sightseeing. Our proposal for one day tour would be following:
We will start with visiting the city center including Church of the Saviour on Spilled Blood – one of the symbols of the city (partly modelled on St Basil’s Cathedral in Moscow) and Peter and Paul Fortress on Zayachy Island – established by Peter the Great in 1703. Then we will visit State Hermitage Museum – one of the oldest and largest museums in the world. Its collection includes more than 3 million works of art and artefacts of the world culture exhibited in a huge complex of 6 buildings. Founded by Catherine the Great in 1764, today is a must-see place in St Petersburg. After the visit we will have some free time for lunch. In the afternoon we will drive to Pushkin – 24 km south from city center. Here we will visit Tsarskoye Selo (Tsar’s Village) – World Heritage Site with famous Catherine Palace with Amber Room and lovely Park with Great Pond.
Tour lasts approx 9,5 hours.
