Tallinn is very popular destination for Baltic cruises because of its strategic location by the Gulf of Finland, only 80 km south from Helsinki and 300 km west from St Petersburg. Although Tallinn is the largest city of Estonia it is relatively small comparing to other European capital cities – it has a population of approx. 420 000 people. Since Estonia regained its independence in 1991, Tallinn has been growing dynamically and become modern and prosperous city but has never forgotten its long history which today can be experienced while walking around Tallinn’s compact Old Town.
Because Old Town area is located very close to the Tallinn’s harbour, we can offer you a guided walking tour of the centre without using any transportation. Our guide can meet you at the harbour and after 5-10 minutes walking you will admire the old centre of the city. During our tour you will see Town Walls with Great Coastal Gate and Fat Margaret Tower, House of the Brotherhood of Black Heads, Orthodox Church of St Nicholas and Cathedral of Saint Mary the Virgin also called Dome Church – main Lutheran church in Estonia situated on Toompea Hill. During the walk we will find a few really nice view point from which you will admire the Town Hall Square and other parts of Tallinn’s Old Town. Other highlights on our way will be: Danish King’s Garden on the slopes of Toompea Hill, Toompea Castle where today Estonian Parliament has its seat, Nevsky Orthodox Cathedral and many others picturesque sites of Tallinn’s Old Town which was included by UNESCO in the World Heritage List.
After the tour you can have some free time in the centre and come back to your ship on your own at chosen time.
