"The Iron Boy”

On a small square called Bollhustappan there is the most adorable sculpture in Stockholm. Less than a feet tall boy made from iron is sitting on his iron bed and stare on the moon.

Stockholm citizens call him colloquially “Olle” and during winter months knit for him some warm caps and scarfs.
The creator of a sculpture, Liss Eriksson is famous Swedish sculptor, and he claims that the boy is himself from childhood. The smallness of the figure contrasts with the space of the square, and create the cohesive integrity. The work was unveiled in 1967, and quickly the custom of throwing little coins appeared.
